For sale are a matching pair of very rare brass / steel Candy Drop Rollers. Both roller features 8 different Animal designs that are repeated around the roller, with 4 of each design. The manufacturers stamp L. COLLIER & SONS, MAKERS, ROCHDALE can be seen on the end of the roller. Colliers manufactured from 1835 – 1924 and then became BCH (Brierley, Collier & Hartley) in 1924, who are still trading today. The brass part of each roller measures approx. 5’’ (12cm) and will fit Drop Roller Machines manufactured by L. Collier & Sons or would just make antique decorate item. These stunning rollers have been sympathetically restored back to original condition to show their detail and workmanship. This has been done through a process of fine soda blasting the entire piece, followed by a light polishing to bring back the detailing of the rollers. Any exposed steel such as the cogs and shafts have been cold blued and lightly oiled to prevent corrosion of these antique pieces. We believe machining and completely restoring these rollers would remove all the character they have. PLEASE NOTE – If you are going to have these rollers on display its recommended to occasionally oil them with linseed / rapeseed oil to maintain their appearance.
